Professor Patricia Davidson

Patricia Davidson is Professor and Director of the Centre for Cardiovascular and Chronic Care in the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health at University of Technology Sydney. Her clinical and research specialty focuses on chronic cardiovascular disease, focusing on heart failure, women's health, indigenous health, and models of care development to improve access to effective primary, secondary, and tertiary care services. She holds the Professorial Chair in Cardiovascular Nursing Research - St Vincent's & Mater Health. She is President of the International Council on Women's Health Issues and Secretary of the International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing. She is Chair of the Cardiovascular Nursing College of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand and also President of the Australasian Cardiovascular Nurses College. Over the last decade she has developed a stream of research that focuses on increasing advocacy for disadvantaged and marginalised populations. The increasing burden of chronic and complex disease requires research and clinical innovations that transcend discipline and knowledge silos. She has worked on education programs for Aboriginal Health Workers involving collaboration between TAFE, mainstream services, universities, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
